The harmonic gear drive, invented by C.W. Musser in 1955, utilizes elastic deformation of flexible components for movement and power transmission. This breakthrough in mechanical transmission offers unique functions difficult to achieve with other drives, named after the symmetrical harmonic deformation process. Also known as a waveform drive or flexible wheel drive in different countries.
The deceleration principle of harmonic gear transmission involves the controlled elastic deformation of the flexwheel to achieve motion and power transmission. Through the relative motion of the flexwheel, rigid wheel, and wave generator, the flexwheel constantly deforms to enable active wave generator to flexwheel movement transmission.
